We start each Sunday session with a “flash briefing” — a 15-minute presentation or discussion designed to jump-start your writing practice. After the discussion, we write. You can focus on your current work in progress, or unleash your imagination with a few clever prompts and story starters. At the conclusion of our open writing session, we’ll turn to a 30-minute question-and-answer session with organizer Corrine Kenner, who has been deeply enmeshed in the publishing world for many years.
COST: $5. You can pay online when you register or with cash when you come in person.
AGENDA
2 to 2:15 pm FLASH BRIEFING. Look amazing in your author photos. Learn where to shoot them, how to frame them, and how to pose — and then learn how to make the most of them.
2:15 to 3:15 pm OPEN WRITING SESSION. We use simple prompts to inspire several short bursts of timed writing — typically 10 to 15 minutes each. During that time, you can write whatever you like: flash fiction, a scene for a short story, a dialogue, a poem, or a passage of your memoir. When the time is up, you can share your results. You can also indicate whether you’d like feedback.
3:30 to 4 pm SELF-PUBLISHING Q&A. What are the benefits of self-publishing? What are the downfalls? How do you get started? How much can you earn? Bring your questions — and your own answers, based on your experience — for a wide-ranging discussion with organizer Corrine Kenner.
SPECIAL LIMITED-TIME BONUS: New members get a free copy of the “Flash Fiction” booklet by organizer Corrine Kenner. (While supplies last.)
