We start each Sunday session with a “flash briefing” designed to jump-start your writing practice. After the discussion, we write. You can use the time to focus on your current work in progress, or unleash your imagination with story starters.

THIS SUNDAY’S AGENDA
2 to 2:30 pm FLASH BRIEFING. Before you start researching your next book, stop. Before you take a single note, stop. Long before you write the first sentence for your first page, stop — and write the sales copy that will run on your back cover. It sounds backward, but it works!
2:30 to 3:30 pm FLASH FICTION. During the open writing portion of our Meetup, you can focus on your own current projects or get your creative juices flowing with story starters from our “Flash Fiction” booklet. We use the prompts to inspire several short bursts of timed writing. While the clock is ticking, you can write whatever you like: flash fiction, a scene for a short story, a dialogue, a poem, or a passage of your memoir. When the time is up, you can share your results. You can also indicate whether you’d like feedback.
