For thousands of years, people have gathered around a fire, looked up at the heavens, and spun stories on strands of starlight. Today, the imagery and symbolism of astrology can serve as a starting point for your stories, too.
All the World’s a Stage
This is how we’ll use astrology for writing.
- The Planetary Players. The planets are the guiding lights of the night sky. They move through the signs of the zodiac like players on a celestial stage — and they make perfect models for the characters in a world of your creation.
- The Signs of the Zodiac. The 12 signs of the zodiac describe the characteristics of the planetary players — and they determine what costumes the actors will wear. As a writer, you can mix and match the planets and signs, to create characters that are believable and true to life. What’s more, the signs provide a focus for your characters’ drives and desires — which leads to plot and story development.
- The Houses of the Horoscope. The 12 houses of the horoscope provide a backdrop and setting for the drama of human experience.
- The Big Picture of a Horoscope Chart. A horoscope chart is a master plan, a document that outlines a drama like a script.
